进入二十一世纪以来,英语的国际化水平越来越高,英语已经成为国际交流必不可少的工具。正是因为如此,国人对英语的学习必将不分人群,不分年龄。然而,在目前英语日益重要的形势下,中国现有的教育条件仍不能有效地提高初中阶段学生的英语水平,尤其是口语水平。初中英语教学中,笔试能力被过分强调,但口语水通常被忽略。整个初中阶段学生英语口语学习可分为两类,一类表现消极,注重英语笔试分数,英语实际交流能力困难。另一部分表现积极,但是缺乏一个有效地平台,现行的课程标准和教育制度真正的实施相差甚远。 随着互联网和经济的发展,标准化英语课程在发达城市得到体现,新课标新方法重在合语言语言能力的发展,而听力和口语是四项语言技能的重要组成和发展基础。新的教学方式越来越生活化,学生在生活中运用英语的能力越来越强。由此看出,英语口语水平在英语学习中的重要性。但是,少部分经济发展相对缓慢的地区,对于英语的教学仍然停留在原始对英语笔试过分强调的阶段,这就需要我们认清现阶段初中生英语口语教学以及英语口语学习的基本状况并作出反馈,让初中阶段的英语口语教学和学习都能得到一定层次的提升。
Since we set foot into 21 century, English has become an international language, and the level of internationalization become higher and higher. English becomes a kind of tool which is essential to our international communication. It is for this reason that the English learning of we Chinese will be universal and regardless of class and regardless of the age. However, since English becomes more and more important, the current education conditions in China is still not effective enough to develop the English level of junior high school students, especially, the level of their oral English. In the English teaching of junior high school, the ability of English writing is emphasized more, but the ability of spoken is often ignored. The whole oral English learning in junior high school can be divided into two kind of types, the first one is the more negative one, this kind of one pays more attention to the scores of their English Writing and it is difficult for them to communicate in the daily life. The other is more positive than the first one, but this kind of group does not have an efficient stage to support its learning, the current curriculum standards is far away from the real implement of education system. With the development of the Internet and the economy, standard English classes are popular in the developed cities, the new English Curriculum and new English methods pay more attention to English listening and English speaking. The new English teaching methods become closer to our daily life, and the ability that the students use English in their daily life improves a lot, and we can see, the importance of oral English in the English learning. But, some areas,which develop a little bit slowly, still at the condition that emphasis the English writing much, so we should make clear that the current situation of English teaching in junior high school, and we also should give a feedback to the current oral English teaching and learning, and then, to some degree the oral English learning and teaching can have an real improvement.
Now we are in the new century. The reformation of our education requires that oral English in our English learning is as important as English writing, or more important than English writing. Because of the bad condition of oral English in junior high school, we English teachers are asked to pay more attention to English speaking in our English class and try to use different methods to improve junior high school students ’ spoken English. Doing the research to have a discussion of how to improve junior high school students ’ oral English is important and necessary. It can help to find out the situation of junior high school students ’ spoken English and the reason why the students in junior high school do bad in their spoken English. This thesis attempts to work out some ways to improve students’ spoken English. In order to solve the problem, we should find out the importance of spoken English, the reason why they have many problems in spoken English, and the ways to improve their spoken English. The following aspects are involved. On one hand, this thesis analyses the status quo of Spoken English in junior high school, including the importance of junior high school students’ spoken English for the teaching and quality of the students themselves. On another hand, this thesis analyses the reason why they are poor at Spoken English. First, there are factors of the students themselves, including confidence, motivation environment and learning methods enc. Second, teachers’ factors are important to students ‘learning too, including their knowledge of English and teaching capacity. What’s most important is that this thesis finds out the way to help the students with spoken English. First of all, students themselves should foster the confidence, motivation and interest of spoken English. Second, they should master right methods to practice spoken English. Third, Teachers should enrich their knowledge of English in overall aspects, including English skills, to love every student and to find out the difference between all the students and then give them different suggestion. At last, they should improve their teaching methods of teaching junior students oral English.
Oral English is important in many aspects. It is not only important for the whole society, the schools, the teachers, but also important for the students today. Good oral English is suitable for the aim of integrated development. For an English teacher, a good oral English can help his students more. For a junior high school student, “to improve spoken English ability is an important aim of studying English”. So, the society, the schools, the teachers even the students themselves should spare no effort to improve junior high school students’ oral English. Firstly, the society and the schools can provide the junior students more to improve their oral English, for example, the society can establish many rules to support the junior high school students ’ oral English learning. And the schools can hold many activities for junior students to practice oral English more. Because “activities is incentives to work hard and chances for students to get feelings of successes”.[ Krashen, S. Principles and Practice in Second Language Acquisition. Oxford: Pergamon, 1982.]And “English teaching in middles are mainly to train students to have a definite foundation of English listening and speaking so as to attain the aim to communicate with others in English”So the teachers should try their best to evoke the motivation of the students to learn oral English, and encourage students to take part in many activities to speak English out bravely, and also, it is very important for an English teacher to have a good pronunciation thus he can correct his students ’ pronunciation. So as an English teacher today, he/she should develop his/her overall English abilities. Finally, as a junior high school student today, should spend more time on oral English learning. |
