Mrs Dalloway was set about after World War 1 when the world was just settled. After the war the economy of London began to revive and recovered to be prosperous as quickly as it could. In general, London seemed like splendid at that time. However, it was merely noticed that the war almost destroyed everything around the European people: it looted the life of millions and millions of people cruelly; it destroyed the humanistic sense because it made millions of people become the killers to kill the other millions without any  reasons; it raped the justice and morality because every soldier shot others all by the orders, they even shot  while they were crying and vomiting after shot; it made the conception of religion, nation and family faded because we believed in the religious belief, we trust our nation and we wanted go home when we felt unsaved and harmed, but this war made all the things we used to rely on fell apart; it made freedom, equality and caritas not holy any more—all the people wanted was just how to survive. So this war left the world a hidden trouble—deficiency of inner world. At that time even though without the disturbance of the war, people did not know what they lived for. So Virginia wanted to speak out. At the same time the British traditional idea—the male chauvinism made it hard to spread her ideology.
