《半个女友》是印度作家奇坦·巴哈特所著的一部爱情小说。该书以印度社会现实为主线，讲述了男主人公马达夫和女主人公日亚经历一系列磨难和考验后最终得到美满的爱情故事。此次翻译实践选择书中的第十五至十九章进行翻译。

第十五章讲述了马达夫回到家乡后与母亲讨论加冕礼以及当地政府的情况。

第十六章讲述了马达夫参加加冕礼后在母亲的带领下参观了学校，并决定在学校帮忙。

第十七章讲述了马达夫找村长商量入学率低的问题，在得知原因后便去找政府议员解决学校厕所及周围村庄打水困难的问题。

第十八章讲述了马达夫重回高中操场打球散心，并和母亲再次拜访了议员欧嘉，得知了比尔盖茨要来比哈尔参观的消息。

第十九章讲述了比尔盖茨的助手提前来到学校参观，并建议马达夫用英语演讲来获得资助。

作者在书中多以对话形式叙述情节，主人公与母亲、政府议员等人物间的对话体现了印度当地人们生活的艰辛以及一些政府部门的不作为，也体现了主人公面对现实的无奈。

小论文主要分为四部分，第一部分是引言，主要是对翻译作品的背景知识作介绍。第二部分是简要介绍所选材料的主要内容；第三部分主要阐述翻译过程中遇到的问题及解决的依据和方法；第四部分是结论，此部分是对此次翻译实践的总结与思考。

INTRODUCTION

Half Girlfriend is a love story written by an Indian writer Chetan Bhagat. Based on the reality of Indian society, the book tells us a love story between the male protagonist Madhav and the female protagonist Riya, who live together happily after a series of twists and turns. My task is to translate chapters 15 to 19 of this novel into correct Chinese. 

Chapter 15 describes Madhav's discussion with his mother about the coronation and the local government after he returns to his hometown.

Chapter 16 tells of Madav's visit to the school under his mother's guidance after attending the coronation, and he finally decides to help his mother to run the school.

Chapter 17 describes that Madav consults with Sarpanch about the school’s low enrolment rate. After learning the reasons, he asks the government members to solve the problems of school toilets and water supply.

Chapter 18 is about Madhav's return to the high school playground, and he learns that Bill Gates is visiting Bihar after visiting MLA Ojha.

Chapter 19 describes that Bill Gates's assistant comes to school in advance and suggests that Madhav deliver a speech in English to get help.

In this novel, the author mainly narrates the plots in the form of dialogues. The dialogues between the male protagonist and others reflect the tough life in India and the inaction of some government departments, as well as the protagonist's helplessness when facing the reality.

The essay is divided into four parts: The first part is the introduction, which mainly introduces the background of the novel. The second part is the process of translation. The third part is some problems arising from translation and corresponding solutions to them. The last part is the conclusion, summarizing the translation practice.
