这是一部家庭悬疑小说，讲述了一个单亲家庭中，女儿雪莉在她母亲离婚和决定搬迁后，所发生的一系列的日常琐事。相比于其它家庭类悬疑小说，这部小说情境相对单调，人物稀少。故事主要围绕母亲离婚后母女二人的工作和学校生活展开，整个故事情节发展相对缓慢却紧凑。此次翻译我选择的是第三章节至第六章节，第三章主要描写了母亲离婚前后的工作状况，第四至第六章主要描述了女儿随着母亲搬迁到农村前后，在学校所遭受的种种遭遇和欺凌。从那之后，母女俩就过上了像“鼠”一般的生活。因为在搬迁后那段看似平稳的日子里，她们并不能摆脱以往的不幸所带去的痛苦，她们无奈绝望却又无意反抗，她们自称自己如“鼠”，接受平庸又甘于现状。从一个闪耀的职场女性，到最后为了爱为了家庭不得不牺牲自己事业却最终丧失技能又被离婚的女性。

作者前部分章节主要通过描写一些简单的小事，刻画这对母女复杂的心理和对生活态度。她们认为自己是老鼠，必须躲起来，而这种性格上的缺陷和不完美以及她们所受遭受种种不幸，不仅反映了她们懦弱的本质，更折射出社会对待女性的偏见，甚至校园对弱势群体的欺凌。随着情节的发展，故事将越发惊奇和悬疑，故事暗喻的将不仅是社会对女性的态度，而是一场人性的考量。人性的本质到底是什么，悬疑情节的背后，更能引发不同读者多角度地阅读和思考。

除原文的翻译外，本次翻译实践还包括一篇总结性论文。主要包括三个部分，第一部分介绍翻译作品相关人物和背景知识；第二部分主要介绍翻译翻译过程中用到的翻译理论， 阐述遇到的主要问题及解决问题的依据和方法；最后是对此次翻译实践的总结与思考。

INTRODUCTION

This is a family suspense novel about a series of daily routines of a single-parent family, daughter Shirley, after her mother divorced and decided to relocate. Compared to other family suspense novels, the novel is relatively monotonous and has only a few characters. It is mainly about the mother's and daughter's work and school life after the mother's divorce. The whole storyline develops relatively slow but compact. This translation I chose is from the third chapter to the sixth chapter. The third chapter mainly describes the work conditions before and after the mother's divorce, and the fourth to the sixth chapter mainly depicts her common life in the school and all kinds of bullying behavior comes from her classmates after her mother moved to the rural area. Since then, they have lived a life like "rats". In the seemingly stable days after the relocation, they couldn't get rid of the agony of past misfortunes. They desperately resisted revolt. They claimed to be "rats" and accepted mediocrity. They were even willing to be in the status quo. The mother, a glorious woman, who ultimately sacrifices her own career for her marriage but lived like rats in the end.

The previous chapters mainly focus on their complicated psychology and attitude to life by describing some simple trifles. They think that they are mice and must hide. This kind of character flaws and imperfections, as well as the kinds of misfortune they suffer, not only reflect their weak nature, but also reflect the social prejudice against women, and even the campus bullying. With the development of the plot, the story will become more and more surprising and suspenseful. The story will not only present the attitude of society towards women, but also a consideration of human nature. What is the nature of human and it can enlighten readers to read and think from different aspects.

    In addition to the original translation, there is a summary essay at the end of the translation paper. It mainly consists of three parts. The first part introduces the relevant figures and background knowledge of translation works. The second part mainly introduces the translation theory used in the process of translation, and elaborates the main problems encountered and the basis and methods for solving the problems. And the last is a summary and reflection of this translation practice.
