《决定性的十年》是美国作家梅格·杰伊于 2012 年 4 月出版的一本励志书，她是一位临床心理学家和非叙事小说作家。在书中，作者指出人生中二十几岁时所会面临的问题以及我们该如何积极思考并学会充分利用这些经历给我们带来积极的影响。

本次翻译实践以书中的第一章与第二章为翻译材料。在这一部分中作者主要是通过一些真实的例子来告诉我们 20 多岁的年轻人在工作中会犯的一些错误，并告诉年轻人不要局限于现有的熟悉和舒适的环境。此外，作者还阐述了在工作过程中，人们应该选择一些可以让生活变得更有价值的有意义的工作。

翻译材料的第一章是《自身价值》。作者主要讲述了他在工作过程中接触到的一些二十多岁年轻人的故事，并通过这些真实案例劝诫广大读者：为了让我们的生活更加精彩，我们应该通过自己的努力去学习，提高自己的资本和能力。例如，我们可以试着与其他成功人士、优秀人士交流，我们可以以他们为榜样追随他们，向他们学习，积累自身的资本并为我们的未来打下坚实的基础。

翻译材料的第二章是《弱连接》。作者通过科尔和贝琪的事例告诉了我们弱连接在我们工作和生活中产生的力量，又通过本·弗兰克林研究表明：弱连接在未来的岁月里会让我们的生活变得更好。

最后是对该翻译实践的总结小论文。主要包括对翻译材料的介绍、翻译过程简介、翻译过程中遇到的问题和解决方法以及最终总结。

INTRODUCTION

The Defining Decade is a motivational book published by American writer Meg Jay in April 2012, who is a clinical psychologist and narrative nonfiction writer. In the book, the author points out that the positive thinking and tell us why our twenties matter and how to make the most of them.

The translation practice is about the first and second chapters of this book.The two chapters include a number of real examples to describe that people in twentysomethings often make mistakes at work, it also points out the clear direction and tells the readers not to be limited to the familiar and comfortable things. The author also advocates that the young people should choose the work that can make our life more meaningful.

The content of first chapter is identity capital. It mainly talks about his work with twentysomethings.The author deems that we should make our life more wonderful through our own efforts. For example we also should try our best to communicate  with some successful people and keep in touch with them, in this way we can accumulate capital.

The content of second chapter is weak ties. In this chapter, the writer mentions the strength of weak ties, meet of Cole and Betsy， the Ben Frankling effect, which explains that weak ties can make our lives better in the future.

And the last part of my paper is an essay on translation practice which contains the content introduction，process of translation，the problems arising in translation and the ways to solve them . It also concludes what I have gained from this translation practice.
