Abstract:As our country’s political, economic and cultural links with Western countries become closer, there is no doubt that etiquette will play an important role in the cross-culture process However, Chinese and Westerners have different understandings of etiquette, so there will be some misunderstandings between the communicators and even conflicts will be aroused. Because of the lack  of understanding of cultural differences, it definitely is sure to lead into  many jokes and even communication failures. This paper studies the differences between Chinese and Western ceremonial culture from a cross-cultural perspective, and summarizes the differences and main influencing factors between Chinese and Western ceremonial culture. After that, this paper proposes corresponding strategies to reduce the above phenomenon and promote the mutual -understanding between China and the West. And the responsible exchanges in communication will improve cross-cultural etiquette communication skills.
