Abstract: Vocabulary acquisition is an inseparable part in language learning and plays a crucial role in language teaching. The validity of chunking approach in vocabulary acquisition has been testified in some universities and middle schools in the domestic, but few empirical studies about its validity in primary schools have been done. This study aims to testify the feasibility and effectiveness of chunking approach in vocabulary acquisition in primary schools. The experiment, lasting for two weeks, was carried out in Class Five and Six, Grade Six in Nanjing Jiangning Scientic Park Primary School. It was found that the experimental group made more significant progress than the control group, and the intermediate and low achievers relatively benefited more than the high achievers. The results indicate the feasibility and effectiveness of chunking approach. Key words: primary school; English teaching; chunking approach; vocabulary acquisition
摘要:词汇学习贯穿语言学习的整个过程,它在语言教学的过程中起着关键性的作用。语块法对外语词汇习得的实效性已在国内一些高校、中学得到实证,但有关它在小学阶段中的实证研究很少。本文通过重复汤丽萍(2008)的实证研究来论证语块法对提高小学生词汇学习效率的有效性与可行性。作者在南京江宁科学园小学六(5),六(6)班开展了为期2周的语块法教学实验,从分析相关数据发现,实验班在2周内取得的进步比参照班显著,并且中低水平的学生取得的进步较大,证实了语块法在词汇学习中的可行性和有效性。语块法教学有助于外语初学者学习词汇,为终身学习打好基础。 关键词:小学,英语教学,语块法教学,词汇习得 |
