一、教材内容分析

This unit is from the book Compulsory education textbooks English subjects grade 8 Volume 2 published by People’s Education Press. This unit takes British and American literature and music as the topic. Its purpose is not only to let students understand the names, contents and some relating learning, but also to stimulate students' interest in English language and culture through listening, speaking, reading and writing activities related to literary works, to learn how to discuss and exchange literary works with others, to express their own views and opinions, so as to improve their self-confidence, their literary accomplishment and humanistic accomplishment. The theme of music not only presents the vocabulary related to music topics, but also consolidates students' learning and understanding of the target language present perfect tense through listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. In short, a series of activities involved in textbooks are conducive to the improvement of students' comprehensive ability.

二、学习者特征分析

Some students are not very interested in learning English, and some students are even disgusted with it. At the same time, many students still study for the sake of score itself, not the problem of interest. Students do not have the right learning methods and lack opportunities to practice. As a language subject, listening and reading are the key links, but most of the students are not good at them, particularly in listening. But the middle school students are flexible and independent. Students can quickly form good study habits and find their own English learning methods through continuous learning. They are also very active in classroom interaction, enthusiastically participates in classroom activities. They learn and accept knowledge very quickly. Besides they think and solve problems in a unique way.
