Abstract:The English Syllabus for High School that our country has promulgated definitely emphasizes the importance of reading in English teaching. The New Curriculum Standard (2001) reiterates: High School English teaching should make the students’ basic knowledge stronger and develop their four basic language abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially emphasis on the training of their reading ability, so that they can have a solid foundation for the further studies and for the use of English in the future. This thesis is divided into six parts. Part One is introduction. It briefly introduces the background of the study, the scope of the study, and the research questions. In Part Two, great attention is turned to the literature review of reading strategies, as classifications of reading strategies, reading strategies of effective and ineffective learners, and reading strategies of male and female learners. Part Three copes with the data collection of the survey with the purpose to find out the reading strategies hindering students’ reading competence. Part Four is mainly about the research methodologies including questionnaire, classroom observation, and interview. Part Five is at the very core of the thesis. Based on Part Three and Part Four, this part focuses on the data analysis and different findings from different research instruments. The conclusion and some suggestions are drawn in the sixth part. Due to the limited space, the thesis merely aims at the study of reading skills and strategies, but the author still hopes that both teachers and students in high schools can be benefit from it. 摘要:我国颁布的中学英语教学大纲明确强调了英语阅读的重要性。新课程标准(2000)再次重申:高级中学英语教学应进一步巩固基础知识,发展听、说、读、写的基本技能。侧重培养阅读能力,为学生继续学习,运用英语打好基础。 本论文分为六部分:第一部分为引言,简要地介绍了本论文的研究背景,研究范围以及研究的问题。第二部分着重罗列了有关阅读策略的文献综述;如:阅读策略的分类,有效阅读者和低效率阅读者的阅读策略,男性阅读者与女性阅读者的阅读策略等。第三部分是调查数据的采集,目的是找出在阅读策略方面,阻碍学生阅读能力的相关因素。第四部分为研究方法的陈述。包括了问卷调查,课堂观察和面对面交流三种方式。第五部分是本论文的核心部分。本部分在三、四部分的调查基础上,形成了一定的数据分析和由不同研究工具所得出的不同结论。第六部分为结论,以及一些建议。 由于调查的局限性,本论文只对英语阅读技巧以及阅读策略两方面做了调查。但作者仍希望能给高中师生在英语阅读的教学中带来一定的帮助。 关键词:高中英语阅读;阅读策略;建议 |
