Abstract:The Great Gatsby is regarded as the most famous novel of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Since its publication, it wins lots of appreciations from literary criticism, and brings a ton of critical articles from many perspectives. This classic work is also the most important object of study to many scholars. This paper aims to analyze this work from the perspective of New Historical, by applying its important concepts ---- Textuality of History and Historicity of Texts, and the paper explores real historic events under the guidance of Textuality of History and reveal the influence of The Great Gatsby to history under the guidance of Historicity of Texts; therefore, this paper enables people to profoundly understand the significance of The Great Gatsby from another perspective.
