Abstract: Euphemism is a linguistic form, that is, a pattern of communication by using persuasive language and words easily accepted to communicate. As an integral part of human communication process, euphemism has had a profound impact for thousands of years of human history. English euphemism is an important component of euphemism for a long time, the application of English Euphemism in teaching has been one of the main directions in research of linguists and scholars. Studies on this topic involve many different fields, including linguistics, social linguistics, pragmatics, psychology, etc. Referring the results from previous studies, this thesis tries to make a deep research on the application of euphemism in English teaching from the perspective of pragmatics. This paper first sets forth the definition, classification, origin and other details of euphemism in order to make readers have general understandings of euphemism. Next, the thesis analyzes the current situation, major advantages and application of motivation of English Euphemisms in English teaching in primary and middle schools. The central argument will be in the last, which is the use of English Euphemism in English teaching. According to these arguments, this paper begins with an analysis of the main factors affecting students' input of euphemism knowledge, secondly putting forward a series of effective strategies to help teachers effectively introduce the linguistic phenomenon of euphemism for students, and enable them to master. In a word, the intention of this article is that to stress the importance of application of English euphemism in English teaching, and to elucidate the necessity and feasibility of introducing euphemistic language knowledge in second language teaching.
