Abstract
With the encompassing power of Smatphone and potentials of M-learning for language learning, employing Smartphone in language learning seems to be indispensable. Learners are also looking for new ways of learning to adapt to the rapidly changing society. In such a background, the M-learning based on Smartphone is rising. And this article will focus on studying how this new approach is applied to English listening study. Firstly, according to the large number of books and periodicals, relevant knowledge is explained by the methods of literature analysis and interview. Research background and current situation are expound in detailed. Secondly, the concepts and characteristics of M-learning and Smartphone are introduced in this thesis, and the Informal Learning Theory, Situated Learning Theory and Social Learning Theory are introduced as theoretical support to this research. Next, English listening learning mode based on Smartphone is designed and implemented to students in college by actual application case studies to explore M-learning. And the summary results are analyzed in detail. And the next is existing problems and reasons for the problems and feasible measures are summed up in this thesis. Finally, research conclusion, inadequacies and perspectives are expound in last part. The highlight of this thesis is to design specific personalized M-learning application case, hoping to provide a specific case as a reference for the research on practical application in English as well as building blocks for future development of mobile learning.
