Abstract:The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club explores the problems of British society in the early 19th century with unique writing methods. Through studying the materials in-depth, the paper reveals the following three aspects of British society in the early 19th century. 1. The tragic life of ordinary people; 2. Ordinary people have no right to speak politically; 3. Use irony to expose their laws and prisons. The writer hopes this article will benefit readers in learning about the British society of the 19th century.
