Abstract:Margaret Mitchell, a famous American writer, she combined her life experience and the background of the Civil War into her works and created the Gone with the Wind. Gone with the Wind contains a strong female consciousness. In this work, Mitchell shapes a strong personality, revolts against the patriarchal society. Scarlett’s image of finding self, finding love, seeking freedom and acting for her own inner thoughts is one of the important reasons why many scholars and readers loves Gone with the Wind and praise it. This paper aims at exploring Scarlett's feminist awakening in different periods (pre-war, war and postwar) from the perspective of the growing track of Scarlett's female consciousness. This image of Scarlett has obviously broken through the limitations of traditional society and traditional culture on the position and status of women. The author has demonstrated Scarlett's strong self-awareness to readers with distinct creative ideas. Scarlett is a figure. It represents the value of individual life and respect for women in American society at that time. At the same time, it also sends out the voice of social rights of freedom and equality to the society.
