Abstract:This paper mainly explores the use of euphemism in the sitcom The Big Bang. Euphemism is a universal phenomenon in all languages of the world. It is not only a linguistic phenomenon but also a cultural phenomenon. To a certain extent, it reflects the social values, aesthetics and virtues. Euphemism plays an important role in social communication. The conventional euphemisms can be used as a lubricant to avoid hurting the other party through euphemism. This article mainly looks at the euphemism in the three aspects of the features, the pragmatic function and the application of euphemism in The Big Bang.
