Abstract: This paper, through research on the orientalism in Treasure Island, in combination with novel content and European society of the whole social background at that time, tries to explore the understanding and recognition of the east by the westerners. The reader can learn more about the content of the novel, and make a deep thinking about it. In the novel, treasure island and the island's wealth represents the distorted image of the east by Orientalism. Orientalism refers to studies about the eastern culture, language, social culture and so on.The author hopes that through the brief analysis of the novel, the reader may have further understanding of westerners’ view of the east.
