摘  要：城市是社会文明的集中体现，历史古城以其深厚的历史渊源，反映了社会发展的脉络，是人类的宝贵财富。有着5000年的悠久历史和灿烂文化，如何存续这份古典，是值得探究的重要问题。本文由历史文化名城的概念入手，解析了我国历史文化名城的内涵，找出目前国内外历史文化名城保护过程中存在的问题，从理念保护和实践保护两方面提出保护的对策。

Abstract:City is the concentration of social civilization, the with ancient origin, historic city is precious wealth of humankind, reflecting the venation of society development. China has over 5000 years’ history and culture, how to extend the classical is an important issue to be explored.. This paper begins with the concept of historical and cultural cities in China, analyzes the connotation of the historical and cultural city. And finds out the problems in the protection process at present, then offers measurements for protection from ideas and practice.
