Abstract:Tourism is a booming industry which has given rise to the need of well-translated public signs in tourist attractions. However, there are different kinds of problems and errors found in the Chinese-English translation of public signs in many tourist attractions of our country. And the translation is far from being satisfactory. Skopos Theory combines translation studies with language function and emphasizes the intention of translation as well as the function of text, which can be used as a good theoretical guidance for the translation of public signs in tourist attractions. Based on Skopos Theory, this paper will make an analysis on three main kinds of mistakes in Chinese-English translation of public signs in Xuzhou Museum , which aims to find the problems in the translation, probe into the causes of these problems and explore translation strategies accordingly. In the end, this paper inquires into several suggestions about normalizing the translation of public signs. Key words: public signs Skopos Theory translation strategy
摘要:旅游业的大力发展促进了旅游景区公示语的翻译,汉英公示语的翻译对旅游业的发展也起着重要作用。但是,目前国内许多旅游景点公示语的汉英翻译存在诸多的问题,使其不仅难以发挥应有的交际功能,而且极大的影响了中国的国际形象,阻碍了中国旅游业的快速发展。功能翻译理论将翻译研究和语言功能相结合,注重翻译的目的和文本的功能,对分析景点公示语的汉英翻译有很好的理论指导价值。本文拟从功能翻译理论视角,对徐州博物馆公示语的汉英翻译中的错误进行分析,旨在找出翻译中存在的问题,探讨其产生的原因并提出相应的翻译策略,最后探讨了规范公示语翻译的几点建议。 关键词: 公示语;目的论;翻译策略
