Abstract:As a kind of language, English has different features in different domain. The Electronic Sports is a newborn domain, and its language has its own feature. So when we use English in E-Sports, there are some specific features and functions. E-Sports is a sporting events that the electronic games already reached “athletics” level. Now, most countries begin to hold E-Sports game, so how to communicate with the player from all over the world became a big problem. Firstly, this paper analyzes the features of language in Electronic Sports, some English words and meaning in E-Sports are newly-created, the conciseness of words and sentences and the displacement of language in E-Sports. Secondly this paper analyzes the language function embodied in E-Sports, mainly, there are four functions in E-Sports, the informative function, the interpersonal function, the performative function and the emotive function.
