Abstract: Chinese cooking, with a long history, is famous all over the world for its rich tastes and delightful colors. With China’s reform and opening, food culture has been an important role in Chinese and foreign communications, and translation has been an effective medium in the spreading of Chinese cuisine culture. This paper mainly introduces and presents some common Chinese cuisine translation errors when characters, words, rhymes and flavor of Chinese language are all lost in English environment. First, names of some famous Chinese dishes will be analyzed and the problems with translation will be identified. In order to improve those problems, this paper will point out some of the correction methods and suggestions. According to the different kinds of Chinese dish names, it also makes a brief analysis of different translation methods with some typical examples. Finally, based on the analysis, the importance and necessity of standardization will be proposed. Key Words: Cuisine Translation; Common Errors; Standardization
