Abstract: This paper aims to reflect the social significance in Gulliver’s Travels by exposing British social darkness of the 18th century, the struggle between the two parties and the corruption of the British government as well. And finally the paper tends to inform readers that by the rule of the British government, social issues cannot be solved altogether and they spring up like mushrooms. Therefore people are disappointed，but they are longing for an ideal society.
