Abstract: This study employing a questionnaire aims to show a significant negative correlation between English classroom anxiety and junior school students’ oral performance. 100 students in No.50 junior high school in Nanjing were chosen as the research subjects. At the same time, this study analyzed some reasons for the junior school students’ classroom anxiety, such as language ability, evaluation, classroom environment and the role of teacher. In addition, based on the reasons of anxiety, some suggestions that could eliminate or reduce students’ anxiety to improve students' oral performance were recommended.
