Abstract: Proceeding from film genres and the language characteristics of Hollywood movie titles,this thesis analyzes the main translation characteristics and principles. Next, this paper in the light of the basic translation theory explore the effective way and techniques of translating Hollywood movie titles from English to Chinese with a host of examples. In translation, translators can use the methods of transliteration, literal translation, liberal translation, supplemented translation, rhetoric translation.
