Abstract: This study, from a series of theoretical basis, combined with the current situation of listening teaching in junior middle school, attempts to demonstrate the functions of English films in listening teaching in junior middle school in four aspects: providing authentic language; arousing curiosity; catching attention and promoting memory; enriching cultural knowledge. Since teachers play a leading role in listening teaching in junior middle school for a very long time, there is no authentic language environment, which is not beneficial to motivate the interests of students’. Application of the English films is an effective method in listening teaching in junior middle school. Study on functions of English films in listening teaching has a positive effect on Listening Teaching. Key words: English films, listening teaching, junior middle school
