Abstract: This thesis at first reviews some achievements in the history of metaphor study, its aim is to discover their limitation and develop the inherent value fully. Then it explains the research process and development tendency of the study, trying to find out the profound effect on metaphor translation. From cognitive perspective, this thesis binds cognition tightly to metaphor translation through exploring the cognitive features and functions of metaphor. At last, it sums up three innovative methods for metaphor translation based on existing traditional methods. It is believed that these methods are provideed preference to metaphor and guidance to general English learners.
