ABSTRACT: The traditional force-feeding teaching method hinders the development of the students’ learning ability. In order to overcome this trivial, partial, inflexible and inefficient disadvantage in this English teaching method, the situational teaching method should be adopted in junior middle school English teaching. This paper analyses the disadvantages of English teaching in junior middle schools, and then introduce the situational teaching method, state in detail about its definition, theoretical basis and development. Then this paper through a questionnaire to 54 junior middle school students finds the result: situational teaching method is a comprehensive and effective way to improve the middle school students' ability of oral English. So the applications of the situational teaching method in oral English teaching in junior middle schools are put forward. It aims at helping students improving their enthusiasm of learning Oral English, providing the reference for the majority of English teachers, and advocating that the situational teaching method should be widely used in Oral English teaching in junior middle school. At last this paper shows some implication for the junior middle school English teaching. Key words: Situational Teaching method; English Teaching in junior middle school; Application;
