Abstract: This paper aims to help its readers possess a better understanding of the characteristics and prospects of Chinglish. With the development of China’s national strength, China plays an increasingly important role on the international arena. Ever since the cross-cultural communication started, Chinglish began to emerge. The author is intended to provide a detailed introduction to Chinglish in such aspects as vocabulary, pronunciation, discourse and translation. This paper also analyzes the causes of the emergence of Chinglish in terms of thinking patterns, source language transfer and translation. It concludes that Chinglish, due to its unique characteristics, has a promising prospect in its future evolution.
