Abstract: This study aims to investigate the influence of the lexical chunking on the current English vocabulary teaching in the junior schools. As we all know, it is always a headache for students to memorize a large amount of words and phrases in English. The author of the paper tries to prove the lexical chunking approach will help students to accumulate vocabulary efficiently. This study is directed to do an experiment on the sixty students in a junior school in Yancheng. After several months, the experimental students gained great progress than the controlled group. Furthermore, the comprehensive English ability of the experimental group improves much more after the lexical chunking learning. It follows that lexical chunking approach will play an important role in vocabulary teaching in the future. Key words: lexical chunking; words learning; comprehensive English ability
