Abstract: Charles Dickens is a famous English writer and social critic. David Copperfield is his autobiography, tracing the life of David Copperfield from childhood to maturity. Oliver Twist is notable for Dickens’s unromantic portrayal of criminals and their sordid lives. This paper attempts to study the similarities between David Copperfield and Oliver Twist, both of them were created by Charles Dickens. The similarities between the two characters can be divided into the following parts: they not only come from a similar humble background but also have the same life experience; both of them still maintain their original good moral characters in complex social situations; and both of them have the common pursuit─ the pursuit of family love and a happy life.
