Abstract: This paper elaborates on the influence of transfer, which is a common psychological phenomenon, on vocabulary study. It discusses both the positive transfer and negative transfer and their causes in learning English vocabulary. Starting from the influence of L1 language on English vocabulary transfer, this paper has a further discussion about the application of corresponding strategies to enhance the efficiency of vocabulary study.
