Abstract:Chinglish refers to the abnormal English created by Chinese learners and users during the process of English learning, which can not be understood and accepted by native speakers. This thesis will discuss the causes Of Chinglish by taking its manifestation in advertisements and public signs as examples. Through contrastive analysis, this thesis will point out that the occurrence of Chinglish is due to three main factors: the cultural differences, different thinking patterns between the Chinese and the western people, and mother tongue interference. And then put forward its avoiding strategies so as to help English learners in China improve their English. Key words: Chinglish; mother tongue interference; cause; avoidance
