Abstract: In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain shows ingenuity in using the symbols which seem to be scattered, but closely linked with rich symbolic meanings. The symbols have an important role in developing the plot and deepening the theme. This paper aims at analyzing the symbolic meaning of the character Huck and other significant images in order to reveal Mark Twain’s eagerness to get rid of the shackles of modern civilization and his longing for freedom.
