Abstract: China is a big touristy country. However, as a necessary component of China’s tourism, the translation of tourism materials can’t follow the development of China’s tourism. We can see mistranslation on almost every scenic spot. There are many kinds of mistranslation. Some are caused by the objective factors like cultural differences and grammatical disparity. Some are resulted from the subjective ones like the translator’s ignorance of background knowledge or his inadequate command of the source or target language. This thesis deals with two main parts. The first part presents several common mistakes in tourism material translation. The second part makes an analysis on the causes for the mistranslation and offers some suggestions.

摘要:作为旅游大国的中国,随着其旅游业的飞速发展,旅游景点的英译资料质量却未能跟上发展,我们几乎能到处看到旅游资料的误译。其中有文化差异导致的误译,也有译者本身原因导致的误译。本文分两大部分,第一部分通过对这些常见的语言错误和文化进行归类和分析,从多方面总结造成这些翻译错误和问题的原因,包括译者在翻译过程中受到语言结构、文化差异以及思考方式等影响,导致翻译出的英译文本不易被外国游客所接受。第二部分在总结分析的同时给出一些相应的优化建议。
