Abstract: With the increasing international communication, public sign has become a window for foreigners to know about the city of China. As a special style, public sign has its own characteristics in both lingual and social aspects. Since pragmatics has brought about a new view to the study of translation, this paper probes into pragmatic failure in the translation of Chinese public signs, which is classified into two types:pragmalingustic failures and sociopragmatic failures, by analyzing several examples of mistranslation and comes up with some translation strategies for pragmatic equivalence purposes so as to accomplish the intended goals of public signs . 摘要: 随着国际交流的日益密切,城市的公示语成了外国友人了解这个城市的一扇窗口。作为一种特殊的文体,公示语有其自身的语言和社会语用特点。由于语用学为翻译的研究提供了一个新视野,本文以语用学的语用失误理论为指导,通过剖析一些公示语的英译实例,探究公示语英译中出现的语用语言失误和社会语用失误现象,并提出在公示语翻译中避免两类语用失误的翻译策略,旨在提高译文的宣传效果,实现其跨文化交际的目的。 关键词: 公示语英译; 语用语言失误; 社会语用失误; 策略 |
