Abstract:With the acceleration of economic globalization, China is carrying on increasing economic exchanges with other countries. Corporate profile, which aims at establishing good image of the enterprise and making the enterprise more competitive, is playing a more critical role in commercial activities. So does corporate profile translation. However, word-for-word strategy is widely used in current profile translation, failing to achieve the satisfactory effect. The research on corporate profile translation so far stays at the lexical and syntactic analysis and hardly provides any theoretical guidance to translators in the field. On the basis of the Chinese and English profiles taken from the two listed companies in Xuzhou, XCMG and VV Group, this paper analyzes the errors and mistakes in their English versions as well as the causes. Two translation skills, deletion and addition, are proposed in the light of Skopos Theory. It is hoped that a fresh perspective of profile translation is provided to help to establish enterprise image as well as publicize enterprise culture. 摘要:现代社会中,随着经济全球化趋势的不断加强,中国同世界各国的经济交往越来越紧密,企业简介的翻译在商业活动中的重要性日益凸显。企业简介的最终目的是树立企业良好形象、提高企业竞争力,企业简介的翻译也应以此为目的。而目前企业简介多采用字对字的翻译,难以达到理想的效果。对企业简介的研究也大多局限于具体词句翻译的层面上以及一些翻译技巧的探讨上,缺乏理论指导。 本文以德国功能派的“目的论”为理论指导,以徐州两家上市企业徐州工程集团和维维集团的中英文企业简介为语料,分析企业简介中的常见错误及原因,并提出增译与减译两种翻译技巧,希望能为企业简介的翻译提供一个新的视角,同时帮助企业树立良好的企业形象、宣传企业文化。 关键词:企业简介;目的论;增译;减译 |
