Abstract:There are two functions for a language: transmission messages; keeping in contact with others. Culture shapes a language and then a language shapes culture. There is close relationship between a language and culture. Different countries have different cultures. Language is also different in different countries. Language is developed with social development.  Across-cultural communication is developing quickly and often. In order to communicate well, it is necessary to understand different cultures. As for us, English language-learners, it is necessary that we can correctly and precisely practice English. But how do we do? We should pay more attention to connotations of words rather than the pronunciations, grammars, spelling and idioms. It means learning the ways in which native language reflects the ideas, customs and behavior of their society, and learning to understand their “language of the mind”.

摘  要:语言有两种功能：传递信息；和人保持联系。语言既塑造文化，又被文化所塑造。语言与文化相互联系。不同的国家有不同的文化，因此语言是不尽相同。随着社会的发展，跨文化交流日夜发展。为了达到更好的交流，理解相互文化成了必需。我们作为英语学习者，为了能正确无误地应用它，我们该注意一些什么问题？不但要知道语法，拼写和俗语，我们还应该了解词的内涵，词的文化精神，以至在办事交流中事半功倍。
