Abstract:Different culture and diverse educational methods make people have many contradictions nowadays, with the result that the generation between parents and children is becoming more and more serious in one family than before. Thus, the problem of family relationship has been a concerned issue these days. This essay chiefly discusses the solemn problem which a great majority family is facing in the modern society – generation gap. From the The Joy Luck Club, this paper firstly explains the things happened between one mother and her daughter and illustrates that there is generation gap between them then the gap eventually leads to the conflicts. In the first part, the paper chiefly expresses three different causes lead to three types of conflicts, which includes conflict of character, cultural conflict and communication barrier. In the second part, it tells that the relationship of mother and daughter has been mended, which means that they were reconcilable. The solutions are trying to understand each other, opening their hearts, telling and listening patiently.

摘要:文化的差异和不同的教育方式使现今人类间产生很多矛盾。在家庭而言,父母与子女的代沟比以前更严重。所以家庭关系在现今已成为令人不得不关注的话题。本文主要针对现今社会绝大部份家庭所面对的问题--代沟,进行分析。本文先通过<<喜福会>>中一对母女间发生的事,说明她们之间已有代沟,渐渐代沟形成后来的冲突。在第一部分,主要说明三个不同的因素导致三种不一样的冲突,包括性格冲突,文化冲突与语言问题方面的冲突,而第二部分分析了她们关系得到修补,即为和解的方法,包括相互理解,闭开心扉,耐心细诉与聆听。
