Abstract :As numerous English films are introduced into China, the translation of foreign films becomes a subject worthy of careful study. Title is the soul of a film. If translated properly, it will certainly impress the audience and stimulate their desire to see the film. However this work could not be deemed easy and simple because it is definitely not the pure bilingual conversion but a transposition into another context, not only linguistically, but also socially and culturally. This paper, through an analysis of some translation examples, explores how the cultural factors will influence the translators in their choice of translation strategies and methods. It also proposes three translation strategies in dealing with the problems caused by the cultural factors . Key words: English film titles, translation, cultural factors, strategies
