Abstract:Vocabulary teaching has become a necessity for English teaching. However, currently the common problem existing in the senior school English teaching is that teachers put undue emphasis on the vocabulary teaching and neglect the introduction of cultural connotation of vocabulary. In the long run, this vocabulary teaching method is not only unfavorable for students to form and improve English language proficiency, but also causes them to lose interests in learning English. It is not enough for students to master the spelling and meaning of the word while learning English vocabulary. Only by deeply understanding the cultural connotations of words can the English learners use the words correctly. In this thesis, the existing problems of English vocabulary teaching in senior school as well as the significance of cultural infiltration in English vocabulary teaching will be analyzed. Besides, the contents of cultural infiltration in senior school English vocabulary teaching will be expounded. At last, the strategies of cultural infiltration in senior school English vocabulary teaching will be summarized so as to be helpful for improving the quality of English vocabulary teaching.
