ABSTRACT:Three Kingdoms is the first couplet romance novel in history of Chinese literature. It’s a concentrate of Chinese history and culture. The novel contains abundant cultural contents of Chinese traditions. According to the cultural contents of the original work, Moss Roberts flexibly used various translation strategies. This paper analyzed typical examples of Moss Roberts’ version, and discussed that whether Moss Roberts’s translation of cultural contents achieved functional equivalence, or to achieve functional equivalence, the translator adopted which translation strategies. The paper reached a conclusion that flexibly using various translation strategies can achieve functional equivalence and reproduce figure image.
