Abstract:The creative translation strategy has been widely used in film titles’ translation, besides traditional translation methods such as literal translation, free translation and transliteration. However, creative translation does not mean to translate casually or without any principles. This thesis investigates the phenomenon of creative translation in film titles’ translation in recent year, by analyzing its formative factors and narrowing down its principles. Then, the article discusses how to correctly apply the creative translation into film titles’ translation. Key words: film title; creative translation; renaming
