Abstract:Jane Eyre is a masterpiece of Charlotte Bronte. It had credited by both literary critics and mass readers at the beginning of its issue and has been enjoying great status in history of literature. It has been translated into languages and more than twenty Chinese translations are available since the 30s of the last century. This paper, based on Eugene Nida's "Functional Equivalence"(that is, "Dynamic Equivalence") discusses problems of the Chinese version that was translated by Zhu Qingying in 2009. We think that common issues of translation can be found in the target version by careful analysis and research such as inappropriateness of diction, mistranslation, decontextualized translation and verbatim translation. According to a number of specific examples in translation of Jane· Eyre, we probe into translation principles and relevant techniques from English to Chinese from perspective of literature translation, all of these will be helpful to those who have scanty experiences in translation but are interested in a career as translator in the future.
