ABSTRACT
With the rapid development of the Internet, the face of modern people’s life has been changing with each passing day. Serving as a new form of social dialect and language variety, net language becomes increasingly significant in online virtual communication as well as communication in the real world. What’s more, net language also has profound effect on traditional language and the society. As a result, it’s not only the outcome of language variation but also the inescapable consequence of social progress. This paper chiefly explores net language from the angle of linguistics and sociolinguistics. The key point of this paper is to discover the relation between sociolinguistics and net language. Moreover, this paper also brings forward several developmental advice on net language.
