Abstract
It is well known that, as the American writer Margaret Mitchell’s great work full of feminist, Gone With the Wind is popular all around the world. Though there are over ten Chinese versions of this work, translators in different genders translate it differently. Therefore, this paper have a comparative study on two translated versions of the classic work Gone With the Wind from the perspective of gender difference, solving how gender difference manifests in the translations and helping better understand the original work. Through the study, the thesis presents that gender difference contributes a lot to translators’ translations, both in Li Meihua’s and Jia Wenhao’s. As translators in different genders interpret the work from different perspective, he or she will show their agreement or resistance of the work in some degree, leading to different translations with exceeded or weaken effect of showing the original work’s topic.
