Abstract
Body language is a kind of unspoken language that is widely used by human, it includes gestures, postures, facial expressions and eye contact. It's visual, tangible, flexible and diverse, it plays an important role in the English class of primary school. This thesis adopts theoretical research to carry out the research on the application of the body language in English class of primary school. Besides, the analysis of the physical and psychological characteristics of primary school will be brought in, combined with the the objectives of primary school English teaching and the new curriculum standard.The study found that the proper application of body language can not only promote the efficiency of the teaching and help to achieve the teaching objectives, but also can arouse the students' interest in learning English and improve their learning efficiency. What's more, the proper use of body language helps to maintain a friendly relation between the teacher and the students, also helps to create a relaxed and happy classroom atmosphere. However, if it is used improperly, negative body language will lead to the opposite result. Therefore, the teacher should master the principles of the application of body language and make efforts to improve their body language to improve English teaching.
