Abstract
With the popularity of English in primary school, a growing number of school-age children start learning English. However, many teachers pay more attention to improve students’ English, ignoring the differences between Chinese and western cultures. What they have ignored may influence students’ communication with foreigners in English in the future. it is not easy for students to identify the differences between Chinese and Western Cultures. In this thesis, emphasis is put on the fact that the understanding of Chinese and western cultures is vital to students’ English teaching. And then it analyzes the differences between China and western countries from the relationship between language and culture, and the ways to cultivate students’ cultural awareness have been explored.
