Abstract
This dissertation is based on the studies of second language acquisition and many current teaching theories and analyses why the Chinese students often make little progress after learning English for years. It explores the status and the importance of the teaching pedagogy in Second Language Acquisition.It introduces the introduction of a brief look at ESL history, the application of six teaching pedagogy in ESL and the contrast between different kinds of teaching pedagogies. Hence, it can be concluded the enlightenments of the development of ESL to the current English teaching. That’s the the proper ways of setting the input and output activities, the changing of the roles of teachers and students, the innovation of the teaching material, the creating of the perfect class atmosphere and the final choice of ESL-communicative approach.
