Abstract
The emphasis of improving reading in English teaching in primary schools has been enhanced after the new curriculum reform which has new requirements on students’ reading abilities. The new curriculum requires diversification on the program objective, emphasizes pluralism and multi-channel in the course. English teachers in primary schools should make some adjustments on the model of instruction. Therefore, this article will analyze the status of English reading in primary school and give advice on pre-class guidance, teaching methods and after-school consolidation.
