Abstract
The Situational Approach is a teaching model which is more and more popular in English classes of middle schools nowadays. It uses specific vivid scene to attract students and increase students' learning effect. This dissertation firstly introduces the definition and characters of the Situational Approach, as well as its theoretical origin. Then it introduces what roles teachers and students play so as to put forward the importance of using the Situational Approach in China. Moreover, this dissertation explores the application of the Situational Approach to English teaching in detail. At the same time, it carries on a research on how to apply the Situational Approach to English teaching effectively. The main point of this dissertation is that if teachers always apply the Situational Approach to English classroom, it will make students be more intended to participate in English learning, and motivate students to learn English.
