Abstract
The national curriculum of primary school English in China has been implemented for more than ten years, with the deepening of the understanding for English teaching, make people begin to pay close attention to all aspects of the primary school English teaching. The Ministry of education in 2011 revision of The National English Curriculum Criteria, the most prominent adjustment for the primary school English teaching, which is to reduce the number of words. Clearly identified at the end of the primary school, students should master the number of words and content. This makes the primary school English vocabulary teaching to a new stage, therefore, it is necessary to study the current situation of primary school English vocabulary teaching, provide improvement strategies for more effective teaching, in order to promote the comprehensive development of students' ability to use language to provide support. This paper explores the present situation of English vocabulary teaching in primary school English from the aspects of the importance of English vocabulary in primary school English, the problem of the English vocabulary teaching, and the teaching methods and strategies adopted by teachers to guide classroom teaching.
